CHARGING POSSIBILITIES

PEUGEOT Plug-In HYBRID Vehicle Charging Possibilities

There are four charging modes for any electric vehicle today. PEUGEOT plug-in HYBRID vehicles have been designed to use either Mode 2 or Mode 3.

Mode 2: the connection between the vehicle and the charging point is performed through an electronic box on the charging cable supplied with the vehicle plugged into any standard wall socket. Please do not use any other charging device except the PEUGEOT supplied Mode 2 cable.

Mode 3: the connection between the vehicle and the charging point is performed through a specially designed cable (Mode 3). Depending on your requirements, you may need to carry a Mode 3 cable for use at public or workplace charging stations. These cables are available as an accessory from your Authorised PEUGEOT Dealership.

NOTE: For safety reasons, the vehicle cannot start if the charging cable is connected. Do not use an extension cord, a multi-socket or a timer to connect the vehicle. Always connect the charging cable to the charging point socket. Do not use any other home-style charging device except the PEUGEOT supplied Mode 2 Cable.

The vehicle comes standard with a home charging solution, that will plug into any 10A standard New Zealand wall socket. The charge rate of this Mode 2 cable is 1.8KW and will take 7 hours from 0% charge to 100% in the onboard traction battery (PHEV 13.2KWh battery).

PUBLIC CHARGING

THE DIFFERENT PLUG TYPES

There are five plug types, however only two can be used on PEUGEOT plug-in HYBRID vehicles.

BATTERY CHARGING TIMES

Charging your PHEV Battery can be confusing. The battery in PEUGEOT plug-in HYBRID vehicles  is 13.2kW, and is designed to accept 3.7kW per hour through the onboard charger (OBC).

It means that if your battery is completely flat, your charge times will vary depending on which type of charger you are using, Mode 2 (Home) or Mode 3 (Public, work or a home FAST charger).

A SIMPLE WAY TO WORK THIS OUT:

Charging Your PEUGEOT Plug-In HYBRID Vehicle | Battery Charging Time 13.2 kWH

MODE 2 (1.8kW) means you can charge at 1.8kW per hour. 13.2kW divided by 1.8kW = 7.3 hours to charge

MODE 3 (7.4kW) means you can charge at 3.7 kW per hour (remember, the car restricts charging to 3.7kW) So you will only need 3.6 hours to charge from empty.

Please note, during the charging phase of a battery, the components produce heat, wasted energy that is supplied by the charging point but not used to power the vehicle. This energy loss represents about 10% of the battery capacity and should be taken into account in the charging time according to the effective charging power available at the charging point.

If delayed charging is not activated, as soon as the vehicle plug is plugged in, charging starts and the cable connector is locked in the socket. Whilst charging, some noises can be heard depending on the temperature of the components. Cooling pumps and fans may also be heard.

e-SAVE FUNCTION

Charging Your PEUGEOT Plug-In HYBRID Vehicle | e-Save Function

The e-SAVE function allows you to reserve the energy stored in the battery for later use in your journey, for example, when you enter into the city or in areas reserved for electric vehicles.

Choose from 3 possible values to place in reserve, either 10km, 20km or the full capacity of the battery.

Then, when you want to use the stored energy, simply select the ELECTRIC mode
